Our school awarded a bumper harvest in application of the first batch of national key R & D program in 2016

Recently, the public service platform of national science and technology information system announced the results of 40 pilot special subjects and key special subjects of national key R & D program in seven domains of “environment & resource”, ” major basic research ” etc. The five projects of our school led by Shengcai Lin the professor of college of life sciences, Bangqin Huang the professor of college of the environment & ecology, Yao Zhang the professor of college of ocean and earth sciences, Dongliang Peng the professor of college of materials, Wenzhi Cao the professor of college of the environment & ecology, and the fourteen topics led by Ling Huang professor of college of chemistry and chemical engineering and so on have been established, the total funds are about 0.167 billion. In this batch, 1073 projects led by 533 units including universities, research institutes, enterprises have been established, the total funds are about 26.7 billion.

The national key R & D program is the biggest reform and obtains highest attention in the new five major national science and technology programs since the reform of national science and technology system. For one thing, the program focus on the major social and public welfare research which is associated with the national economy and the people's livelihood needing long-term evolution, as well as major scientific problems, major common key technologies and products, major international scientific and technological cooperation that is associated with core competitiveness of industries, overall capability of independent innovation and national security. It integrates up to more than 40 research programs which was originally distributed in different ministries and commissions such as the 973, 863, the national support program, the public welfare program, is one of the biggest funding programs. For another, the program is oriented by problem, and starts from the demand, requiring the whole chain of innovative design from the basic front to major common key technologies to the application, needing integrated organization, is one of the most complex programs to implement.

In the organization process, our school pays great attention to innovation and scientific research organization. Firstly, careful layout and advanced planning, we recommend our school’s experts to the competent department to join into expert group on the implementation of the program and expert group on the guide preparation, for playing the role of expert guidance and information interpretation. Secondly, strengthen internal and external cooperation. According to the characteristics of whole chain design and multiple unit cooperation of the program, we strengthen inter school cooperation, and encourage multi-level communication between our teachers and other universities, research institutes, enterprises. Thirdly, extensive mobilization and organization, school held a number of key R & D program conferences ,college set up a leading group of this program in order to combing and integrating dominant forces for full mobilization of teachers to actively take the lead or participate in key program applications. The above measures provide an important guarantee for our success in the applications.
